HARD FREEZE WARNING: – “Pets, Pipes, People” – Bitter Cold Night Ahead

Are you stocked up and ready?  It’s going to be a COLD winter’s  night.  In the wake of the storm,  it’s been a bitterly cold Saturday.  Today’s high has only been 34.  Wind chill factor has been in the teens all day.  And, tonight the temperature is going to plunge.

Tonight will be colder than last night.  In fact, lows will reach near 10 in north Alabama and near 20 in south Alabama.  Teens in between.   We should be in the upper teens around Montgomery.  Take any precautions you need to.  Dress in layers when you’re headed out.  Hats, gloves and scarves!

PRECAUTIONS:  Leave the faucets dripping.  Wrap exposed pipes, which could freeze and burst.  Don’t forget…Bring in your pets!  Check on your elderly neighbors. If you have a backyard pool, leave the pool pump running tonight.  Any wet roads will freeze overnight and that could cause travel issues.

Here’s a peek at the projected overnight lows around our state tonight.

Wind chill will fall below zero in parts of north Alabama to near 10 in the Montgomery area.

MY FORECAST:  Clear and cold tonight.  Low Upper  teens (Chill 10)    Sunny and cold.  High near 40.  Low Sunday night 24.    Not quite as cold Monday.  Hi 49.

WEEK AHEAD:  60’s return Tuesday and Wednesday.  70’s by Thursday through Saturday.  Scattered showers from time to time.  What a NICE recovery!!!

Stay Warm!   Throw a log on the fire.  Have a great weekend.
