Excellent Space Station Flyover This Evening

Clear to partly cloudy skies will set the stage for a nearly perfect International Space Station Flyover (ISS) early this evening.  Look first, in the southwest sky at 6:41, moving northeast.  I will be almost overhead at 6:43, then into the northwest sky, as it begins to fade out at  at 6:44. traveling at 17, 500 mph, roughly 250 miles above us (It fades out when it loses visible sunlight, shortly after passing overhead). Remember there are 6 human beings on board.  It makes one complete revolution of the earth every 92 minutes.  That’s 16 sunrises and 16 sunsets a day!

The Space Station can be seen with your naked eye.  It looks like a bright point of light.  Tonight’ flyover will be particularly bright.  If you’ve never seen it, it does not get old.  It’s always a thrill!  It’s been awile since I’ve been able to tell you about one of these perfect overhead flyovers.  Bad weather has prevented us from seeing them recently.

TONIGHT’S WEATHER:  Clear to partly cloudy and much cooler.  Overnight low 34.  Winds die down.

CHILLY WEEKEND:  Highs will only be in the low to mid 50’s Friday through Monday.  Lows at night will be in the lower 30’s Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning.  I’ll take a closer look at the weekend and look ahead to next week on our next video tomorrow morning at 5.  Have a good evening.  I’ll see you in the morning.   -Rich

Much Colder Weekend Ahead – Thursday Video

Then rain, from that vigorous line of showers overnight, is departing. The Cold front has moved through.  The Much colder air is spilling into the state and will dominate the forecast through the weekend.  How cold?  And, how long?  I’ll update the numbers, plus will look at horizon for any storm systems that may be headed this way for the next week or two.  Great space station flyover tonight.  I’ll have the latest details.

A series of much cooler days and colder night are on the way.


The Euro model out 10 days shows 5 chilly days and cold nights ahead before temps, moderate a bit by mid week. Then, another late week drop, before a storm system around Feb. 4th.

Cold Front Approaches – Cold Weekend Ahead – Wednesday Video

Big weather changes on the way as sharply colder air approaches.  I’ll update the rain chances and timetable.  How long will the colder air be around and how cold?  We’ll take A peek 16 days down the road on temperatures.  And, I’ll tell you about a truly excellent space station flyover coming up, on your quick Wednesday morning weather briefing.

Cold front enters the state early this evening.  Scattered showers with the front over night.  The Line of showers, and the front,  may reach Montgomery by about Midnight or so.  Cold Front reaches Dothan by Dawn Thursday.  Sharply colder behind it.

Euro Model shows the sharp temperature change from a warm day today to much colder air with chilly mornins this weekend.  This graph also indicates the showers tonight and the next storm system around Friday February 3.

Cold Front Approaches: Much colder by the Weekend

Good Morning!  It will get a little warmer, before it gets colder. Cold front is approaching that will bring some more showers.  But, cold weather fans, the cold will come in stages, and we’ll update the numbers and the timetable as we look toward the weekend.  Are we done with major storms for a little while?  We’ll scan the horizon for what comes next.  Here’s your Tuesday morning personal weather briefing.  Have a great day!



Current Map…shows cold front in the plains states heading our way.  Showers by Wednesday night and Thursday AM, followed by colder.

Wednesday will be the warmest day…but look at the Euro model graph for the next 10 days, some of the coldest air won’t arrive till the start of next week.

An “Alberta Clipper” delivers a shot of some even colder air by Monday and Monday night..  Maybe even snow flurries in north Alabama

Much Colder Air Later This Week – Monday Video

The Big Storm which brought multiple rounds of severe weather, and dozens of tornadoes to the south, is moving away, as windy cooler weather sweeps in.  There’s another cold front ahead, mid week, which will bring in Much Colder air later this week.  I have the new numbers and the updated timeline.  Plus, we will see if we have any more big storm systems on the horizon.  Your Monday Morning personal weather briefing with your toast and coffee.

MUCH COLDER:   Look at the huge drop from Wednesday’s high temperature to the cold weekend.

Looks like we will see several cold episodes like this in February and March.  Not continuous cold,  But, there’s a lot more winter ahead.
