Next Few Days – Not as Hot – Showers Increase

The intense heat continues to fade.  After 98° on Thursday & Friday, yesterday’s high was 94°, today we will be generally in the lower 90’s.  Still hot, but not as hot.  The heat index will still edge up over 100.  A few spots may be close to 105 on the Heat Index, mainly in west Alabama.  NWS has opted to keep the Heat Advisory for most areas from I-65 westward.  It includes Montgomery county.  Scattered thunderstorms will “bubble up” in the afternoon heat, with a 30% chance in most places, a little higher at 40% on the coast.  Rain chances improve tomorrow.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  As the upper high fades, a trough of low pressure develops which will promote better rain chances.  In fact, showers & storms will peak in the “likely” 60% category Monday & Tuesday.  Storms will start to thin out Thursday.

TROPICS:  The tropics are amazingly quiet right now.  There are no systems being targeted or monitored by NHC over the next 5 days.   Hang on, though, the season’s activity will pick up, especially in August and September.

I’ll have your next video update for you, online by Monday morning at 4:45AM.  Have a great Sunday!
