Same Song:  Very Humid, Numerous Storms

I keep waiting for a day when I can bring you some hope for weather changes.  But, unfortunately, we will be stuck in this tropical “jungle” for several more days, as our better than normal daily rain chance continues.  Another front enters the state today, and stalls in central Alabama on Sunday & Monday. This will be the focus for scattered to numerous storms.

TODAY:  Patchy morning fog.  Partial sunshine, but clouds will be extensive.  Very humid.  Random, scattered showers and storms, most numerous in the afternoon and evening.  High near 90.   Tonight:  Will be mostly cloudy.  A leftover shower is possible.  This will not be conducive for the meteor shower.  More below.  Low in the mid 70’s  Patchy fog late.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  No end in sight…  Still the Deep Tropical Moisture remains in place with scattered to numerous showers and storms every day.   The number of storms could thin out a little bit by late week, perhaps.

INVEST 99-L:  Invest 99-L in the Atlantic has a better 60% chance of development next few days.  No matter.  The models show this system staying off the US coast and curving into the Atlantic.  There are signals in the atmosphere that will start seeing a big uptick in tropical activity from Mid August, and through the month of September.  Stay tuned.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER:  The peak of the Perseid meteor showers was both last night and tonight.  (officially it peaks at 1PM today).  The Perseid is the best meteor shower of the year with 40 – 80 meteor per hour, some years more.  BUT, I’m sorry to say, extensive cloudiness will be likely, just like the last few nights.  Lets hope that we don’t have this problem for the eclipse in 9 days, on Monday, August 21st.

There will be blog updates and tweets over the weekend as needed. I’ll have your next complete video briefing for you on Monday morning at 4:45AM.  Have a nice weekend!
