SUNDAY UPDATE: BIG PATTERN CHANGE LATER THIS WEEK – RAIN RETURNS

Our quiet, nice start to the month of June continues today, and through the first half of this week.  But, an important change is on the way, by late week and next weekend.  We need rain, and there’s a good chance we may see some very beneficial amounts in the not too distant future.  Plus, that tropical system in the southwest Gulf (Invest 91-L) could help “juice up” our rain chance by next weekend.  (more below)

TODAY:  Should be another great day.  Sunshine will be abundant.  Like yesterday, I think the high will be near 94.  But, the humidity will be very tolerable.  Light wind.  Low tonight 70.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   The quiet mostly dry pattern continues through Tuesday.  Widely scattered storms will pop up Wednesday.  Rain chances start to ramp up Thursday and Friday and beyond.  (more below)

MAJOR PATTERN CHANGE COMING:  We need rain.  Badly.  Late this week a upper trough will be the catalysis for a wetter and cooler series of days, especially from about Friday through Sunday (June  7-9).

Tropical moisture from current Gulf Invest 91-L (see below) could play a significant role in rainfall amounts.  Some potential tropical downpours could really help our rainfall deficit here in Alabama and surrounding states.

However, it could put quite a damper on weekend outdoor plans next week.  Be ready to be flexible with your plans.

BEACH FORECAST:  Yesterday, that stalled front near the coast was the focus for scattered storms.  Today, the better rain chances should be south of the coast.  I’ll hang onto a 10% chance.  Otherwise, it’s a great Beach Forecast through Tuesday.

INVEST 91-L:   Air Force Reconnaissance from Biloxi is scheduled to check out Invest 91-L in the Bay of Campeche (if necessary), this afternoon.  NHC says the system could become a depression or tropical storm before moving inland early this week in Mexico or South Texas. The next available name is Barry, if it gets a name.  No matter.  Extremely heavy rain is expected with this system over portions of the Mexican and Texas coast.  It’s interesting to note that the moisture from this system could play a pivotal role on our weather near the end of this week and into the weekend with tropical moisture which could lead to some beneficial rainfall amounts.

I’ll have a complete video update Monday morning, online by 4:45AM.  We’ll focus in on the details of the big changes in the week ahead.  Have a great Sunday.
