Locally Heavy Rainfall Threat – Risk for a few Strong/Severe Storms – TUESDAY VIDEO

EARLY MORNING UPDATE:

Good Morning…on very active Super Tuesday Election Day, when weather will have a potentially significant effect across the southern states.  The potential for excessive rainfall totals continue today through Thursday morning.  Plus, there is an added risk of a few strong to severe storms across all the state today, and for the southern half of the state tomorrow.  I’ll bring you up to date on the details.  And, we will look ahead to the return of the sun and pretty nice weekend outlook.

As a frontal system cuts across the state today…more rain, thunderstorms, locally heavy downpours and perhaps a few stronger storms with damaging wind gusts.

SPC says a few storms could become strong, possibly severe across the state today with damaging wind gusts the main threat.  The tornado threat is small but not zero.

Tomorrow, SPC has a Level 2 Severe Risk covering much of south and SW Alabama.  The Marginal risk extends as far north as about Clanton.  A few tornadoes are not out of the question, particularly in the Level 2 risk area.

This is the EURO model.  If this verifies, this could cause localized flooding in some places.   That’s a lotta rainfall in our future.  Rain ends by about mid day Thursday.

Rain ends by about mid day Thursday. The sun is back out Friday.  Beautiful weekend ahead, much like last weekend in several respects.
