Good Morning! We have a very summer-like Mid May weekend on the menu. Temperatures continue way above normal. (Normal high 84, normal low 61) We should be mostly dry across the area today and Sunday, but rain chances will finally start to increase soon. Scattered showers and storms are possible by Sunday night, but there is a better chance of showers and storms on Monday, before it turns much cooler by Tuesday.
TODAY: It’ll feel more like a weekend in June than May. A good bit of sunshine mixed with some clouds. High in the lower 90’s. Partly cloudy, very mild tonight. Low 66.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Clouds will increase a bit Sunday. That may hold the temperature down just a bit. We should reach the upper 80’s to 90’s. I think we’ll be dry daytime Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Sunday night. But, there will be a better chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday as a cool front approaches. Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite a bit cooler.
SHOWERS RETURN: An approaching cool front, and upper level low will bring the risk of showers and thunderstorms back to the area late Sunday night and into Monday. We need the rain! Rainfall amounts are not expected to be significant. Maybe a quarter of an inch or less. Much cooler air follows.
INVEST 90-L: That tropical disturbance near southeast Florida is likely to become a tropical depression or tropical storm today or tomorrow. NHC gives this system an 80% chance of development. As I type this, Air Force RECON is investigating this system this morning. The first name on the list this year is Arthur. This system is expected to move northeast and not effect the US coastline.
ISS FLYOVER TONIGHT: There will be a particularly good Space Station Flyover (ISS) tonight. Hopefully, the clouds will cooperate. It should be very bright. Look in the southwest sky at 8:37PM. It will fly almost straight overhead and be out of sight in the northeast sky at 8:40PM.
