Hurricane Watch Issued for Northern US Gulf Coast – Expected Landfall Friday As a Major Cat 3 Hurricane – Perhaps Louisiana Coast

SPECIAL 4PM Update:

After interaction with land, DELTA is much weaker right now with 85 mph wind. Excepted to through rapid intensification again Thursday. Reaching major Category 3 status again. Landfall likely Friday, probably along the Louisiana coast as a high end Cat 2 or a low end Cat 3 hurricane. It will be a larger hurricane hurricane with potential catastrophic damage again.

(10:00AM Update:)

A Hurricane Watch has been issued for parts of the TX/LA coast from High Island, TX to Grand Isle, LA. Hurricane Delta, with 105 mph wind is starting to pull away from the Yucatan coast into the Gulf. Expected to regain Major Cat 3 hurricane status and make landfall, perhaps on the Louisiana coast Friday. Delta will also grown in size and become quite large. Coastal flooding eastward through the MS/AL coastal areas.

EARLY MORNING UPDATE:

Monster Hurricane Delta is destined for two landfalls in the next 3 days, one around Cancun, and the other one will be a along north central U.S. Gulf coast as a Major Cat 3 Hurricane sometime Friday.  The models are coming into closer agreement that Delta could come ashore, perhaps in Louisiana,  but the track could still change.  Alabama will be on the west and windy side of Monster Delta.  On this video we will look possible impacts for us and the latest of track and timing.

Delta is looking like a monster on the Satellite this morning as it heads for landfall on the Yucatan coat today..

Strongest winds in Alabama will be during the day Saturday. Could be some 30-35 mph wind gusts in central Alabama.

On the Current track, heaviest rainfall will obviously be in the western counties. This could change if Delta’s track changes.

Spotty showers will pop up Thursday. Rain chances are better Friday. And rain and qualls become likely Friday night and especially Saturday. Locally heavuy downpours and gusty winds. Couple of left over showers possible Sunday.
