SATURDAY UPDATE: Cool Saturday – Nice String of Days Sunday through Thursday

Good Morning!  Overnight, rain was widespread but light.  Today, the best rain chance will be during the first half of the day, but the main rain shield will shift southeastward later in the day.  The Gulf coast will get drenched again today and tomorrow.

The news for us gets a lot better starting Sunday, and continuing through most of next week.  We will see an extended string of storm-free days.  Temperatures will be below normal most of the week.  In fact, a Cold Front sweeps through the state Tuesday night.  We’ll see a couple of mornings in the 40’s on Wednesday and Thursday morning.  The risk of showers will return perhaps as early as Friday.

TODAY:  (Central Alabama) Risk of light rain early, mainly before lunchtime. Mostly cloudy this afternoon & tonight.  Slight chance of showers tonight.  Cool…High today only 67. (Normal 78)  Low tonight 54.

(Southeast Alabama)  Showers and thunderstorms likely at times much of today & tonight.  High today near 70.  Low tonight 56.

(Auburn for A-Day)  Risk of scattered showers from 11am to 2PM.  Cool.  High 65.

(Tuscaloosa for A-Day)  Risk of a few showers, mainly before 2PM.  Cloudy & cool.  High 66.

Here’s the set-up today. Another Gulf Coast soaker. Only spotty showers over central Alabama.

SUNDAY:   Cloudy early, then mostly sunny.  Nice day.  High 76.  Mainly clear at night.  Low 54.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Great string of storm-free days through Thursday.  Cool days and chilly nights.  Coolest day will be Wednesday.  Coolest morning will be Thursday morning.  Showers possible by Friday.

Cool front sweeps through the state Tuesday night.  Wednesday will be breezy and cool.  Wednesday night will be clear and cold, for so late in the season.

Unusually cool for so late in the season, especially by mid-week.  A warming trend begins the following weekend.

BEACH FORECAST:  I’m sorry to say, the Beach Forecast will be rather dismal again this weekend.  Showers and thunderstorms are likely today and Sunday.  Remember, it never rains in the restaurant.  I’ll be there late next week.  I hoping for better luck.

POLLEN FORECAST:  From the folks at pollen.com:  the pollen count will be in the medium range today, high on Sunday and medium high Monday through Wednesday.

There will be another blog update in the morning.  Have a nice weekend!
