SATURDAY UPDATE: High and DRY for Several Days – Hotter and Hotter

Good Morning!   We are still stuck in a pattern.  That large upper level heat dome is parked right over the Gulf states and it will be anchored there for several more days.  Each day will get hotter and hotter.  In fact, we are likely to threaten Record Highs Monday through Wednesday.  Rainfall prospects continue to look terrible for several more days.

Meanwhile, don’t look now, but the tropics are coming alive.  We’re still 9 days shy of the start of Hurricane Season, but all of a sudden, ANA was born in the Atlantic at 4AM.  And Invest 91-L in the Gulf , is heading for the Texas coast.

TODAY:  Lots of sunshine, again.  Nice east/southeast breeze again 6 to 16 mph.  (That’s nice!)  High today 90-91.  Low tonight 64.  Even hotter tomorrow.  But, the humidity is still very tolerable.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Hotter and hotter.  Low to mid 90’s Sunday.  Mid to perhaps upper 90’s next week. Humidity still very tolerable.  Hot and dry.

Record Highs will be threatened Monday through Wednesday.

WHEN WILL IT RAIN?:  Get out the garden hose.  We need rain, but there’s no rain in the cards in the week ahead.   Dry as a bone.

The American GFS model is still advertising showers returning next Saturday, May 29th.  BUT, the Euro model shows us dry.  We need some rain, even if it happens on a Holiday Weekend.

TROPICAL COMING ALIVE:   We’re still 9 days shy of the start of Hurricane Season, but all of a sudden, ANA was born in the Atlantic at 4AM, northeast of Bermuda.  Winds are 45 mph.  It will have a short life, and not threaten any land.  This is the 7th year we have had a named storm before the start of hurricane season.

Meanwhile,  Invest 91-L in the Gulf , is heading for the Texas coast, near Corpus Christi.  It will continue to produce heavy rainfall.

BEACH FORECAST:  The weather will be GREAT on the coast.  But, there are double red flags flying on the Alabama coast.  You can’t get in the water.  High Surf Warning and High Rip Current risk continues, because of that strong onshore wind.

Not only are the double red flags flying on the Alabama beaches. Here’s a snapshot from a web cam couple of minutes ago in Destin.

I will have another Blog Update for you tomorrow morning.

Have a nice weekend!  Enjoy the summer preview in the next few days.
