SATURDAY UPDATE: Generous Storm Coverage Today – Fewer Storms and Hotter Days Ahead

Good morning!  Not a lot of change is expected today. There will still be a generous supply of showers & storms roaming around.   Many towns, but not all towns, will get wet.

However, our forecast will be evolving.  Over the next few days, look for storms to “thin out”.  Far less numerous.  Hotter days are ahead.  Very humid.  I think we are headed for close to triple digit heat indices, Sunday through Wednesday. Summer doesn’t officially start until Father’s Day, June 20th, but we will experience an early dose of mid-summer heat over the next few days.

TODAY:  There will still be a generous supply of showers & storms roaming around, especially by afternoon & evening, today.  Many towns will get wet.  Hot & humid.  High in the low 90’s.  Storms fade out overnight tonight.  Low 72

MOST of the state is in a Marginal Severe Risk today. Some storms may reach severe limits. Damaging wind gusts are the main threat today. Watch for intense lightning. Locally heavy downpours.

SUNDAY:  Expect some subtle changes.  Not as many storms.  Widely Scattered in the afternoon and evening.  Perhaps 20% coverage at best.  Hot & Humid.  High 94. Heat index upper 90’s to near 100.   Low Sunday night 73

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Fewer storms on the radar each day.  Isolated.  Very hot and humid.  Highs close to the mid 90’s.  Triple digit heat index is certainly possible.

BEACH FORECAST:  Higher rain chances through the weekend.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Fewer storms by Monday.  Gulf water temperature 82.

Future Radar shows an active storm day on the coast.

THE TROPICS:  No surprise here, because we’ve been talking about this possibility for several days.  There is an Area to Watch in the southwest Gulf.  The Bay of Campeche  NHC gives it a 30% chance of development in the next 5 days.  We don’t know where it may potentially go….yet. We’ll watch it.  The rest of the Atlantic Basin is quiet.

I will have another Blog Update for you tomorrow morning.

Have a nice weekend!
