Good Morning! Yesterday, was “feast or famine”. A few towns had more than an inch of rain. The Montgomery Airport only had a Trace. Many of you had nothing at all. Much of today will be rather routine, with lots of heat, humidity and scattered, random PM storms. But, look for storms to become more numerous by this evening & tonight, and perhaps quite numerous Monday, as a trough approaches.
After Monday, I think much of the week ahead will be rather routine for July. Details below.
TODAY: I think much of this day will be routine for most of us. Sun/cloud mix. Hot & humid. High 91. Spotty random storms will pop up after lunchtime. Some of the hi-res models suggest a better chance of showers & storms later this evening and into the nighttime hours, as a complex of storms slides southeast. Low 73.
I always caution you when I show a Future Radar example. Summer is complicated. This is one model’s solution of how the storm complex could effect the state this afternoon and tonight.
A few storms could become strong, perhaps briefly severe across the northwest counties, especially north of I-20.
MONDAY: Your odds of getting wet are better on Monday. A couple of factors will come into play. We will be on the wet side of a surface front and a upper trough. Showers and thunderstorms are likely. Right now, I am not expecting severe storms.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Rain chances are highest on Monday. But, the probabilities will start to level out Tuesday through the rest of the week. Right now, most of the week looks routine. Hot & humid with spotty storms.
TROPICS: I’m happy to say, right now we are in a “null phase” in the tropics. I don’t anticipate any tropical trouble for perhaps several days. We will enjoy the quiet pattern for now. NHC has one tiny, lonely X on the map in the far North Atlantic. We all know the “null phase” won’t last forever.
