SUNDAY UPDATE: Spotty “Hit or Miss” Storms Make a Comeback – Getting Hotter

Good Morning!    Yesterday was hotter than Friday.  Today will be hotter than Saturday.  The Heat Index will be closer to 100 today and into the low 100’s Monday and Tuesday.  Yes there will be showers and storms on the radar, but your chances of encountering one will be very tiny.

We are about to begin the second week of August.  The theme will be – Heat, Humidity & Scattered random storms.  Summer rules for the next several days with no sign of relief.

Meanwhile, the tropics, which were quiet in July, have started to blossom.  In the Tropical Atlantic, we now have two Invests and one Area To Watch.

TODAY:  There were a handful of nice downpours roaming around yesterday.  They fizzled before they close to my neighborhood.  Today, the chances of encountering a cooling shower is 20% or less.  There will be a good bit of sunshine, mixed with clouds.  Expect a hot & humid Sunday.  High close to the mid 90’s.  Heat index getting close to 100.  Steamy tonight.  Low 74.   Light and variable wind today, at 5 to 10 mph by late morning and into the afternoon, diminishing to near calm at night.

Storms today are likely to be quite rare.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Hot week ahead.  Mid 90’s each day.  Triple digit Heat Index.  Random Scattered storms.  Little day to day change.  Typical summer forecast.

TROPICS:  The Tropical Atlantic has become rather busy. All of a sudden we now have two Invests with a number.  92-L and brand new 93-L.  And, we’re still tracking that Area to Watch.  ‘

The Euro Tropical Depression Probability shows a “corridor” from the Tropical Atlantic to the Southeast coast of the United states.

93-L could potentially have an interesting future.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER Mid-Week:  The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks this Wednesday & Thursday. It’s one of the best meteor showers of the year.  These swift and bright meteors radiate from a point in the constellation Perseus the Hero. As with all meteor shower radiant points, you don’t need to know Perseus to watch the shower. Instead, the meteors appear in all parts of the sky. These meteors frequently leave persistent trains. Perseid meteors tend to strengthen in number as late night deepens into midnight. The shower typically produces the most meteors in the wee hours before dawn.

I’ll have a complete video update tomorrow morning.  Have a great Sunday!  Stay cool.
