Overnight Severe Weather/ Tornado Threat – Much Colder Air Behind The Front

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch issued till 5AM. The Watch extends as far south as Chambers, Tallapoosa, Elmore, Autauga, Dallas and Marengo.

A few tornadoes are possible. Damaging thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph. Up to quarter size hail.

SUNDAY:   Showers & storms in the morning.  Then a risk of additional showers during the day into the afternoon.  Upper 60’s through mid to late morning.  Then, falling temperatures into the afternoon ….into the 50’s.  Windy and colder Sunday night.  Low temperature near freezing by Monday morning.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Shocking change of climate Monday.  AM low near freezing.  The high may not make it out of the 40’s.  Near  30 by Tuesday dawn.  Risk of more showers by Wednesday night/Thursday ahead of the next cold front.  COLD air arrives by Friday.  High Friday 47.  We’ll be in the 20’s Friday night.

WHAT A CHANGE: Saturday was the fifth straight day of 80+ degree heat and Record Breaking Warmth. The New Years day high of 83…blew away the old record of 79 from 1952.
