MONDAY Update:  Random PM Storms – Hotter Days Ahead This Week

Good Morning!  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:     Sun/cloud mix today.  High 92.  Random, scattered afternoon & evening storms. 20-30% coverage. Not every town will get wet.  Wind: Southeast at 5 to 10 mph, will become westerly in the afternoon.   Partly cloudy tonight.  Overnight low near 70.

Interesting to see how the Hi-res models depict potential shower coverage today at 5PM.  The HRRR looks underdone.  The WRF model looks too aggressive.  The NAM looks just right.  In between.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Hot days.  Mid 90’s Tuesday through Friday.  A few isolated random pop-up storms, mainly in the afternoon & evening hours each day.  Typical, routine summer forecast.

The heat index will start to be an issue this week, especially late week.  Look at some of the numbers on Thursday afternoon. Similar numbers are expected Friday.

We’re Now about 15 days till the First Day of Summer.  The Summer Solstice.

TROPICAL UPDATE:      Tropical Storm Alex, in the Atlantic, apparently will not be the first Hurricane of the season.  It had 70 mph winds earlier.  But, the winds are now at 65 mph.  Tropical Storm warning for Bermuda.  Long range models advertise possible tropical mischief in the southwest Gulf next week.
