WEDNESDAY Update:  Hot & Humid – A Few Strong Storms Possible

Good Morning!  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

It was a very stormy overnight in North Central Alabama. A cluster of strong storms called an MCS caused very gusty winds and flooding rainfall across multiple counties. Here’s what the radar looked like at 3:45 AM this morning.

TODAY:     Sun/cloud mix today.  High 93.  Random,  scattered afternoon & evening storms.  Some storms will be strong, possibly severe.  Wind: Southwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Partly cloudy tonight.  Overnight low near 71.

SPC says: Some storms will be strong, possibly severe, today & this evening.

Many of us could face two potential rounds of storms today.  Overnight the Birmingham area has had flooding rain.  A portion of that storm cluster could affect the area this morning.  Here’s a couple snapshots of two hi-res models at Mid Morning.

Then, the atmosphere will recover.  More random storms will pop up this afternoon in the hot & humid environment, enhanced by a frontal boundary.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Hot & humid days.  Mid 90’s Wednesday through Friday.  A few isolated random pop-up storms, mainly in the afternoon & evening hours each day.  Frontal system will help improve the rain chances by Friday evening and Friday night.  Sunday looks like a drier day as the front makes it down to the coast.

Frontal system will help improve the rain chances by Friday evening and Friday night.  On Saturday, the better rain chance shifts in to the southern half of the state.  Sunday, the best rain chance will be on the coast.

This will bring another risk of strong to severe storms by late Friday and Friday night.

BEACH FORECAST:   A southward moving front will enhance the rain chance on the coast over the weekend, especially Saturday and Sunday.  Highs in the mid 80’s   Gulf water temperature is at a season high of 85.

TROPICAL UPDATE:     The tropics at the moment are quiet at the moment.

We’ll be watching the southwest Gulf next week.   The GFS and EURO models are both hinting at possible development.  Next name up on the list is Bonnie.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning!
