THURSDAY Update: Warmer Today – Friday Storm System – Weekend Cold Surge

Good Morning!    We had a Wednesday morning low of 30.  This morning will be not quite as shocking as we head for the mid 30’s.  Frost Advisory.  Areas of patchy frost early.  The BEST news, we will start a nice warm up into the low to mid 70’s.  Today will be the best day of the week.  Showers and storms invade the state Friday, some could be severe.  Then, are you ready for another cold plunge?  Get ready.  Colder air funnels in over the weekend.  We could tease yet another freeze by the first day of Spring on Monday.  Such is March.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Areas of morning frost.  Sunshine.  Still Too Cool for March.  High in the lower 60’s.  North wind 6 to 12 mph.  Increasing clouds tonight.  Milder.  Low 57.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  There will be another round of showers and storms Friday as a strong cold front approaches.  A few strong/severe storms are a good bet.  Then, get ready for yet another Temperature Crash starting Saturday.  We could tease the freeze mark AGAIN by Monday morning, the First Day of Spring.  Very chilly for March this weekend through Monday.  Not quite as cold by mid-week.

The Next storm system will be a massive coast to coast system, with winter weather for some and a severe weather threat Today from Texas/Oklahoma,  to the lower Mississippi valley.

Friday, the severe weather threat migrates to Alabama.  Many of us are in a Level 1 Marginal Severe Risk   The greatest threat of severe weather will be in the South Alabama generally from Greenville southward.  Level 2 Risk.  Damaging wind gusts and large hail would be the main risk.  Since November there have been few weeks, if any, without at least one severe risk.

Here’s the expected rainfall with this Friday storm system.

Following the storm system, get ready for another temperature crash this weekend.

Here’s the 10 Day Model Temperature Blend.   Lots of ups and downs.

BEACH FORECAST:   Less than in ideal forecast.  Stormy Friday, then a windy & colder weekend.   Not good.
