THURSDAY  UPDATE:  HOT and Mainly Dry Next Few Days

Good Morning!  We’ve been close to 100° again today. The heat index may flirt with 105 again.  There is a weak front in the state.  Rain chance in Alabama  today is not zero, but 20% or less, mainly east of I-65. The hot and mostly dry pattern will continue.  Expect upper 90’s Friday and Saturday.  We’ll mention a very small chance of random storms Sunday through Tuesday.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.  

TODAY: Lots of sunshine.   Hot & dry .High near 100. Heat index 102 to 105. (Record 103 from 2007) NW wind 6 to 12 mph.  Low 77.

Rain chance in the state today is not zero, but 20% or less, mainly east of I-65.

. TROPICAL:  Tropical StormDebby Made it’s second US Landfall overnight on the SC coastline. It’s still producing tornadoes and prolific rainfall totals.  Today it gets picked up by a through and heads for the northeast US.  More extreme rainfall and  a tornado threat

.  Look at the expected rainfall as Debby heads for the Northeast.   

There’s a new  Aare to Watch in the Tropical Atlantic heading toward the Caribbean.   Right now there is  20% chance of development next days.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Our extremely hot and bone dry pattern will continue.  Expect upper 90’s Friday and Saturday. (Normal hi/lo 84/72)  Lows at night in the mid 70’s.  We’ll mention a very small chance of random storms Sunday through Tuesday.

BEACH: The weekend Beach forecast looks pretty good!.  Rain chances will be very low.  Isolated storms.  Highs in the low 90’s.  Gulf water 88.  Medium Rip Current Risk.
