THURSDAY UPDATE: Milton Pounds Florida – Quiet &  Nice For Us – Colder Nights Ahead

Good morning!  Milton is still pounding Florida this morning after producing a night of terror across the state. Milton arrived at Siesta Key as a Cat 3 hurricane with 120 mph winds at 8:30 PM EDT. Milton will exit Florida this morning.  There have been fatalities. More on Milton this below  Milton has had zero effect on Alabama’s weather.  In fact, we have a rather quiet, nice storm-free pattern for several more days. Nights are getting  progressively cooler. We’ll be near the 50 degree mark by dawn Saturday.  Highs will be in the 80’s through Monday. Then,  the bottom drops out on Tuesday. An arriving cold front on Monday will usher in  a shot of chilly Canadian Air with 40’s at night by the middle of next week. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY: Mostly Sunny.  Warm for October.  High 85. Breezy. North wind 6-13 gusting to 20 mph.  Clear cooler tonight.  Jacket weather.  Low near 53.  (Normal hi/Lo 83/58)

Here’s the map set up this afternoon and late tonight, as Milton exits into the Atlantic.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  We have a great weekend forecast with highs in the 80’s and lows in the 50’s.  Perfect for the Fair. Saturday morning’s low will be near 50, far and away the coolest of the season so far.  A cold front will move through the state on Columbus Day Monday, delivering by far the coolest air of the season. What a change Tuesday with a high of 71!  The real-deal Fall air is on the way.

The 10 Day Model Blend Temperature Trend will excite a lot of people.   We’ll be in the mid 40’s by Wednesday morning.  Our high temperature may not make it to 70 on Wednesday. The coolest air of the season is on the way next week.

No Tropical Trouble for us.  In fact, we are storm-free and dry for several days.  Meanwhile, Milton’s rains will exit into the Atlantic.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  Milton will exit Florida this morning after severely punishing the state on many, many levels.  Even many hours before arrival, there was an unbelievable outbreak of  dozens and dozens of tornadoes, some strong.  In fact, the National Weather Service issued a total of 226 tornado warnings. Just amazing.  Milton arrived at Siesta Key with 120 mph winds at 8:30 EDT. Milton will exit Florida by later this morning.  There have been fatalities.  There was a Flash Flood Emergency for Tampa.  Some places had more of a foot of rain.

At 4:00 AM CDT)/5:00 AM (EDT), the center of Milton has now reached the Atlantic, located 10 miles NE of Cape Canaveral . Still a Cat 1 85 mph hurricane. Moving NE at 18 mph. Pressure: 976 mbs.

The 226 tornado warnings in Florida yesterday, hours ahead of Milton’s landfall, was the most issued in Florida weather history, including some strong tornadoes and fatalities. #milton #FLwx

Elsewhere in the tropics – There is still Hurricane Leslie and an Area to Watch in the Tropical Atlantic.

HURRICANE ANNIVERSARY:  On this day six years ago ferocious devastating Cat 5 Hurricane Michael came shore a little east of  Panama City near Mexico Beach, forever changing the northwest Florida coast.  Years later, recovery continues.  And, by the way, this year’s M name Milton replaced the M name Michael  on this list. Now, the M name on this list will need to be replaced again.

Thanks for reading the blog. There will be another complete Blog update and video forecast discussion tomorrow morning.

I’ll be also doing another Milton update on Sirius/XM Satellite radio a little after 6AM CDT on Chanel 73.

This morning, everything is normal including LIVE on the Radio from 6 to 9AM on NewsTalk 93.1 WACV.  Have a nice day!
