Friday Update:  Dry & Warm Today  – Important Weekend Frontal System

Good morning!  Temperatures have continued to warm.   Yesterday’s high was 88 for the second day in a row.  Expect upper 80’s again today and Saturday. The nights are not as cool.  Expect lower 60’s again tonight. Sunny days and mostly clear nights will continue for now.  Changes are on the horizon as an important cold front approaches.

It’s still a dry forecast at least through Saturday evening. Showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast late Saturday night and Sunday ahead of the next cold front.  Next week looks dry again, with another big cool-down expected behind the front. Coolest of the season so far.  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Sunshine. Very warm for October.   Low humidity. High 88. Light wind.  Clear and not as cool tonight.  Low 64.   (Normal 81/55)

NEXT FEW DAYS:  The very warm temperatures continue through Saturday. It’s still a dry forecast at least through Saturday evening.   Showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast late Saturday night and on Sunday.  Next week looks dry again, with another big cool-down expected behind the front. Coolest of the season so far.

Here’s the set-up for 7AM Sunday AM as the important Cold  front approaches.

On Saturday night, much of NW and west of Alabama has a Severe Weather threat from SPC. This outlook continues till 7AM Sunday.  We’ll be watching for any future extensions of this outlook.

NO rain is expected through most of Saturday evening.

Showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast late Saturday night and on Sunday ahead of the next cold front.  Look at Future Radar late Saturday night.

The NAM model is later on the start time.

Talladega Race time is 1:00PM. Here’s the NAM model showing the rain over at 1:00PM. We’ll see.

Fingers crossed that we’ll get some decent rainfall.

The weekly Drought monitor map  came out yesterday, as the escalating drought continues to grow worse. Now more than 72% of the state is in a moderate drought or higher. 26% of the state is in a severe or extreme drought. Fingers crossed.

Here’s the 10 day Model Blend temperature trend.  Temperatures will cool down again next week behind Sunday’s Cold front.   Coolest of the season so far.   Look at Monday through Thursday AM.

TROPICAL:

There are two new X’s on the map from NHC.  Areas to Watch.  We could care less about the one in the Atlantic – BUT finally NHC has recognized future Topical Trouble in the Caribbean.  The models have been screaming about this for several days.

The Global models  continues to strongly indicate that the Caribbean needs to be monitored next week for tropical development.

Eventually, activity could migrate to the Gulf before this month is over.  Look at the evidence in the maps below.  Not done with the tropics yet.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning. This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  I’ll have another update for you in the 4  o’clock hour tomorrow morning.  Have a nice day.
