Good morning! Today is the first full day of Fall – but it will feel like any summer day. Expect mid 90’s today and tomorrow. Today is the 19th day straight of 90+ degree heat. Again today and Wednesday the chance of any rain is 20% or less. An important cool front is on the way. The front will bring a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms, followed by some really nice air. The best chance of rain will be Thursday. Some storms could be quite strong. The first weekend of Fall will feature much lower humidity and cooler nights. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion,
TODAY: Mostly sunny. A little more humid. Rain chance under 20%. High in the low to mid 90’s. Mostly clear tonight. Low upper 60’s to near 70.

NEXT FEW DAYS: Hot and humid through Wednesday with highs in the low to mid 90’s. Rain chances are very small until late Wednesday night. An important cool front is on the way. The front will bring a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms, followed by some really nice air. The best chance of rain will be Thursday. Some storms could be quite strong. The first weekend of Fall will feature much lower humidity and cooler nights.

Showers and storms will likely be widespread by Thursday ahead of the front.

Some of the storms could reach severe limits by pre-dawn Thursday from Selma westward. Then, tyhe Marginal Risk spreads over the rest of the state Thursday.


Here’s the projected rainfall through thew next 7 days. The approaching cool front will bring widespread showers and storms late Wednesday night and Thursday. Hopefully some substantial rainfall for many towns. MGM has only had .02” inn the last 26 days.

Here’s the 10 Day Temperature Trend. The 90’s are likely through Wednesday. But this week’s cool front will bring a nice change by the end of the week. The first weekend of Fall will feature much lower humidity and cooler nights.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Gabrielle is a major Cat 4 hurricane in the open Atlantic. Is a not a threat to land areas at this time.

Elsewhere there are two Areas to Watch. One with a 80% chance of development. The next available name is Humberto. That other area to watch, with a 50% chance of development is more interesting. There could be some problems down the road for the Bahamas.

Here’s the EURO Ensemble Member Lows through the next 10 days. MOST activity in the Central Atlantic. But we’re also keep our eyes off the SE US coast.
