Good morning! Gradually we’re getting hotter again. Thursday’s high was 90. (Normal hi/lo 91/68) Expect lower 90’s today through Monday, and low to mid 90’s by Tuesday. Fortunately, humidity is still very tolerable, and the nights are comfortably cool. I see no storm systems in the next several days. NHC is monitoring an Area to Watch in the far eastern Tropical Atlantic, with a 40% chance of development. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.
TODAY: Total sunshine. Warmer. Still Tolerable humidity. High 92. Mainly clear and still comfortably cool tonight. Low 66.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Expect hotter days and the dry/storm free pattern will continue for several more days. Expect lower 90’s today through Monday, and low to mid 90’s Tuesday. Fortunately, humidity is still tolerable, and the nights are comfortably cool. Lows will be in the 60’s. I see no storm systems in the next several days.

DROUGHT MONITOR: Much of west Alabama and parts of East Alabama are now highlighted in the latest Drought Monitor Map. In West Alabama some places have a Level 3 Drought status.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: There is Area to Watch in the far eastern Tropical Atlantic. NHC says there will be gradual this weekend and beyond as this Tropical Wave moves westward with a 40% chance of development.

HURRICANE HISTORY: On this date in 1979 Hurricane Frederic devastated the Alabama Gulf Coast – making landfall at Dauphin Island. At landfall, Frederic was a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Intensity Scale, raking the Mobile Bay area with winds gusting from 100-145 mph for several hours on the evening of September 12 through the early morning of September 13, then tracking northward through West Alabama causing incredible damage. 1979 was the first year that male names were used for tropical systems.
