THURSDAY Update:  Scattered PM Storms – More Hot and Humid Days

Good morning!  The intense heat and humidity continues. Today’s high will reach the middle 90’s with triple digits on the Heat Index again. A massive Heat Dome remains in control over a multi-state area.  Radar will be quite active again today, especially along and south of the US 80/I-85 corridor.  Storms will begin to thin out in frequency over the weekend and early next week. Storms will become few and far between.  Expect the hottest days of the summer, so far,  especially by early next week.  Meanwhile,  NHC continues to monitor the northern Gulf later this week for potential tropical development. Right now,  it looks like the heaviest rainfall will stay near and south of the coast.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Sun/cloud mix.  High near 94.  Heat index102-107. Random Scattered PM showers & Storms.  Low tonight 75.

The center of the massive Heat Dome remains is briefly shifting eastward through the weekend.    It will migrate westward again early next week.

FUTURE RADAR:   Radar will be quite active today, especially along and south of the US 80/I-85 corridor.

NEXT FEW DAYS.  Expect low to mid 90’s  through Sunday and upper 90’s to near 100 Monday through Wednesday. Low at night in the muggy mid 70’s. Very little day to day change.  Scattered random mostly afternoon and evening storms. Storms will become very isolated Sunday through Tuesday.

Check out the projected Heat Index values especially Sunday through Tuesday.  There is more Dangerous Heat in our future.

Here’s the 10 Day Model Blend Temperature Trend.   The hottest days will be early next week. No relief in sight.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:  NHC is monitoring the northern Gulf, along a stalled frontal system. There is a very low 10% chance of tropical development.

The EURO model shows a 50-60% chance of this system becoming a Depression over the NW Gulf.

Elsewhere, The tropics are coming alive.   The EURO is highlighting several  areas to watch across the Atlantic basin.

Right now it looks like the heaviest rainfall will stay near and south of the coast.

BEACH OUTLOOK:  The highest rainfall probability is Friday associated with a the tropical disturbance. The rain probability by Saturday and Sunday is more routine.
