WEDNESDAY Update:  Tracking Invest 93-L  – Scattered Storms Will Increase

Good morning!  Get ready for another very hot July day with highs in the middle 90’s.  Again today, the Heat index will be excessive: 100 to 105.  The best chance of scattered random storms today will be along and south of I-85.  The coast will get drenched with very heavy rain today, associated with westward moving Invest 93-L heading toward Louisiana.  Our rain chance will improve especially Thursday and Friday as tropical moisture increases.  Expect more scattered storms over the weekend. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Sun/cloud mix.  High 95.  Heat index100-105..  Only Random Scattered PM showers & storms. Low tonight 5. Light wind.

Parts of West Alabama are under a Heat Advisory today. This includes Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.

FUTURE RADAR:    The greatest risk of afternoon random storms will be along and south of I-85. 

By early this evening, expect widespread drenching rain associated with Invest 93-L  from the Alabama coast through much of south MS and Louisiana.

NEXT FEW DAYS: Random storms will be more numerous, especially Thursday and Friday, as we track the future movement of invest 93-L along the northern Gulf coast.  Expect low to mid 90’s daytime, and muggy 70’s at night.    

The 10 day model blend temperature guidance shows lots of extremely hot days in our future.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:  NHC has a medium 40% chance of associated with Invest 93-L which will be moving westward along the northern Gulf.   Air Force RECON will investigate the system this afternoon.

This the EURO Probability of Tropical Storm development.  It has gone downward in it’s probability of development.

Most models take the tropical system straight toward New Orleans.

Drenching rains are expected from the Florida panhandle to the NE Texas Gulf Coast.

BEACH FORECAST:   Not ideal.  Be flexible.  Scattered showers and storms Friday through Sunday.
