Good Morning! There will be an increasing chance of showers and storms over the next few days. The risk of spotty storms begins this afternoon, but the coverage will increase quite a bit this evening and through the overnight hours tonight. For the Mother’s Day Weekend, it’s not going rain all the time. There will be many dry hours. But, the daily precipitation probability will be in the 70 to 80% range Saturday through Monday. Highs will be in the 70’s over the weekend and early next weekend. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY: Partial sunshine. High 84. Risk of spotty showers and storms by this afternoon. Showers and storms become likely tonight. Low tonight 64.



Future radar clearly shows that the highest probability of concentrated showers and storms wilk be this evening and overnight tonight. Some storms could be strong especially in South Alabama.


The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal Risk for all of south Alabama, generally south of a Auburn and Selma line. The main risk is damaging wind gusts. Large hail is also possible.

SPC also has a Level 1 Marginal Risk for much of southwest and south Alabama on Sunday.

NEXT FEW DAYS: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around each of the next several day through early next weekend. It’s not going to rain all the time. There will be several hours of dry weather. Highs will be held down to the mid 70’s by clouds and showers over the weekend. Lows at night in the 60’s.Rain probabilities will be in the 70 to 80% range Saturday through Monday.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend. Some of the hottest temperatures begin by mid May. 90+.

BEACH OUTLOOK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around from time to time over the Mother’s Day weekend. There will also be several dry hours. Highs in the upper 70’s. Gulf water temperature 77. High Rip Current risk especially from about Destin eastward.
