MONDAY  UPDATE:  Cool/Dry Start – Very Wet Week Ahead

Good Morning! What a change of climate.  It’s a very chilly start to this brand new week.  Sunshine will help make the afternoon rather comfortable.  We’re headed for the upper 70’s. Expect one more very chilly jacket weather night tonight.  Tuesday looks like a great day.  Our high is headed for the lower 80’s.  After Tuesday, the rest of the week is not exactly Chamber of Commerce weather. Get ready for a very wet multi-day pattern.  A series of storm systems will produce periods of rain and thunderstorms Tuesday night through Saturday.  Rainfall amounts could be significant. Here is my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Very chilly start.  Nice afternoon recovery.  Sunshine.  Afternoon high in the upper 70’s.  Mostly clear and very chill again tonight.  Jacket weather again.  Low in the lower 50’s.

It’s a routine surface map, but look at this rather wild upper air pattern with a large upper low spinning to the north of us in the Ohio valley and another one in the Southwest states. That one in the southwest will help influence our wet/active pattern in the week ahead as it slides eastward and weakens.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Enjoy a really nice day Tuesday, because starting Tuesday night, we will be starting a very unsettled wet and stormy pattern that may last for several days.

Parade of storm systems marching through the Gulf South this week.

Here’s the expected rainfall for the next 7 days. It’s a very wet forecast, especially Wednesday through Saturday. Right now, it does not look like any severe weather.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend.

ETA Aquarius Meteor Shower:  Although the meteor shower will actually peak Tuesday night, because of expected clouds, tonight may be your BEST opportunity.  The Eta Aquariids are a meteor shower associated with Halley’s Comet.
