WEDNESDAY UPDATE:  Continued Warm – Spotty Showers/Storms

Good Morning!  There were showers and a few thunderstorms on the radar again yesterday, but not many towns in our area got wet.   A stalled front across the north Alabama is still in place today.  The front will start to dissipate on Thursday. The risk of spotty showers and storms across the area for the next few days, through about Saturday. But, the best rain chances will continue across the northern counties today and tomorrow, and mostly prominent in the afternoon and evening hours.  Not much rain is likely in central and south Alabama. Meanwhile, it continues quite warm with highs in the 80’s and lows in the 60’s. We’ll be closer to 90 Friday through Sunday.  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Continued quite warm.  Partial sunshine. High 85.  Light wind, Scattered showers and storms will be around, in spots,  today & tonight. Good luck.  Very mild tonight.  Low 63. (Normal hi/lo 80/54)

A couple of Future radar snapshots.  The WRF Model looks a little wetter than the usually believable HRRR model.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  The stalled front across north Alabama will start to wash out. Some widely scattered storms ae possible Thursday through Saturday.  It’ll continue very warm.  In fact, we could perhaps even tease 90 Friday through Sunday. Sunday looks dry and mostly sunny.

Here’s the expected rainfall this week.   Not much for much of central and south Alabama.  The better concentration will be in the northern counties, closer to the stalled front. Montgomery has had 4.74” on rain for the month, but it’s been 12 days since the last measurable rainfall at MGM.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend.  Very warm pattern looks locked in for several days.  Little day to day change with highs in the 80’s and lows in the 60’s.

BEACH OUTLOOK:  It’s a great weekend forecast down at the beaches, from Gulf Shores to Panama City.  Comfortable and nice.  Unfortunately a hh rip current risk, especially from Destin to about Mexico Beach.
