NWS SAYS: Current forecast data remains mostly the same in terms of the overall chance for wintry weather and snow accumulations along and south of the I-85 corridor: LOW.
Model guidance trends during the day today have continued the drier trend for the most part, with probabilities of 20 to 30 percent of anything accumulating over 1/4 of an inch south of the I-85 corridor including locations such as Troy, Eufaula, and Phenix City. Warm ground temperatures will also prevent a lot of accumulation as well, IF we get enough moisture to make it to the surface. We’ll continue to watch the latest guidance trends over the next 24 hours and if anything changes, you’ll be the first to know!

NEXT FEW DAYS: More arctic air ahead. Sunday high 44. MLK Day – Monday high only near 50. Coldest nights will be Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night with low to mid 20’s. Next risk of showers: Wednesday night and Thursday.

The snow on the roads eventually turned to a sheet of ice. Lots of schools and business closed for a couple of days.
