New Years Day Update:   Warmer Temperatures – Friday Storm System

Good Morning!  Happy New Year!  The Arctic air is retreating.  Temperatures will be more reasonable on this first day of 2026.  Sunshine will dominate.  High near 63.  Not as cold tonight.  Low 41.  (Normal 60/37).

Risk of showers begins daytime Friday.  Showers and thunderstorms become likely Friday night and first half of the day Saturday.   Some stronger storms  are not out of the question.  A Marginal Severe risk has been added starting pre-dawn Saturday. Sunday looks dry.  Temperatures will start to warm up next week.

TODAY:  Sunny not as cold. High near 63. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Increasing clouds tonight.   Not as chilly.  Low 41.

SPC has now added a Level 1 Marginal Severe Risk starting at 6AM Saturday from about Montgomery southeastward.  Damaging wind gusts are the main threat.  Brief tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
