THURSDAY Update:  Periods if Cold But Welcome Rain

Good Morning! It’s a very chilly December forecast, and soon very wet. The first wave of rain overspreads the area this morning.  There will be periods of a cold rain today through Saturday – as a series of Lows slide eastward across the Gulf coast.  Leftover showers may linger into Sunday AM, too. Some of the models are advertising significant rainfall totals especially for the southern half of the state. Temperatures may fall short of 50 Today and not much above 50 Friday. We may tease 60 by Sunday, but temperature will remain below normal for several days.   Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:

Periods of rain this morning and through mid-day before we get a break for a few hours.  High only in the upper 40’s.  The next wave of concentrated rain moves in tonight. Low tonight lower 40’s.

A series of Lows will hug the Gulf Coast today through Sunday.

FUTURE RADAR:  Wave one of the rain this morning and mid-day.  Then a break before round two tonight.

NEXT FEW DAYS: There will be periods of a cold rain today through Saturday – as a series of Lows slide eastward across the Gulf coast.  Leftover showers may linger into Sunday AM, too. Some of the models are advertising significant rainfall totals especially for the southern half of the state. Temperatures may fall short of 50 Today and not much above 50 Friday. We may tease 60 by Sunday.

Cold drenching rain is in our future as a series of lows slide east along the Gulf Coast. Here’s the anticipated rainfall through Saturday. This QP graphic shows the 2+” line as far north as Montgomery. 3″ line into south Pike county. This will help put a dent in our Severe Drought. New Drought Monitor map comes out at 8AM.

Herse’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend.  Below normal most of the time.  Chilly.

The EURO model gives us at least some hope for more reasonable temperatures toward mid December.  Let’s hope so.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning. This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  I’ll have another update for you in the 4  o’clock hour tomorrow morning.  Have a nice day.
