WEEKEND FORECAST UPDATED – Memorial Day Showers

For most of us in central & south Alabama today & Sunday will be routine, and just about ideal for your Holiday Weekend outdoor plans, whether you have a backyard BBQ, or a trip to the Lake.  Memorial Day could be problem with showers & storms around at times.  Have a Plan B ready.

It should be noted, that while our weather is nice, a nasty storm system, producing a significant severe weather threat is lurking just north of us, and covers much of the nation.  Keep that mind if you will be traveling north.  In fact, even parts of extreme north Alabama may be grazed by a few storms today, tonight and Sunday.  The severe weather risk includes the farther northern counties.

TODAY:  A sun/cloud mix..  High near 90.  Low tonight 72.  Rain chance about 10%

SUNDAY:  Cloudy in the morning, then a sun and Cloud mix in the afternoon.  Hi 91.  Isolated storms can’t be ruled out.  I’ll keep a 20% chance in the forecast.  Should be a pretty good day, again.

SUNDAY NIGHT:  Scattered showers/storms possible.  40% chance.  Low 72.

MEMORIAL DAY – Monday:  Not a “wash out”, but a pretty significant chance of showers/storms from time to time just about anytime Monday.  I have kept the rain chance at 60%.  High 85.  A few storms could be strong.  I’m not expecting any organized severe weather, but I can’t rule out a warning or two.

NEXT 4 DAYS:  Here’s the forecast in a nutshell.  Best rain chances from Sunday night through Tuesday.

BEACH FORECAST:  Really a pretty good Beach forecast, all things considered through Sunday.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be an issue Monday & Tuesday.  BE CAREFUL!  Moderate rip current risk continues.  There were several water rescues on Thursday & Friday.  At least one person was killed.  Please observe the flags at your particular beach.
