You just couldn’t write a better script for the next few days. We are just beginning a string of remarkable days as we end the month of April and begin May. After a cool morning, this morning, our temperature will surge. We will be storm- free for several days. Great weather at Talladega today for the big race!
TODAY: Text book perfect. Cool start, but a rapid recovery. Sunshine and nice. High 76. North wind 5-10 mph. Clear and chilly tonight. Jacket weather again. Overnight low 48.
CLIMATE INFO: Yesterdays high and low was 81 and 50. Normal high/low is 80/56. Sunrise this morning 6:01, sunset 7:25. Moonrise this evening is 7:13pm. The full Pink moon.
NEXT FEW DAYS: After a cool Monday morning start, we are headed for a taste of some much warmer air, with sunny, warm days and mostly clear nights, which will be moderating at the week goes on. Scattered showers will return by Friday night into Saturday.
WHAT’S HAPPENING?: Controlling our weather, in the upper atmosphere, this week, will be a massive ridge of high pressure, surging northward from the Gulf and dominating much of the eastern US. For us, this spells a big warming trend, as we head for the warmest temperatures in 2018 so far. But, that’s not all. This ridge also keeps would-be storm systems at bay for several days.
NEXT STORM SYSTEM?: Scattered showers return somewhere in the Friday/Saturday time frame on Cinco De Mayo weekend, from a decaying frontal system approaching the state. The extent of the showers and the timing are still a little uncertain. I’ll keep you up to date as the week unfolds.

It’s been a beautiful weekend across the region. I attended my first wedding beach last evening…barefoot, as the sun set in the west and the spectacular full moon was rising in the east. Shrimp boil on the Beach, here in Panama City Beach. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Rick Lawrence!
