Good morning…on a truly difficult morning in Alabama, following yesterday’s tornado disaster that has left so many dead in Lee county. Drastically colder air is funneling into the state in the wake of the storm, and Alabama is likely to see a damaging freeze, with perhaps 3 nights of Freezing temperatures, before we start to recover. We’ll look ahead to late week temperature recovery and perhaps another important storm system we need to watch for next weekend.
After a breezy & cold day today, we’re in for the first of 3 nights of freezing temperatures tonight. Freeze Warning.
Minor disturbance brushes by the area late tonight. Could there be a brief mix of rain/.sleet near or north of I-85 in the wee hours of the morning? Maybe. But it will be brief and light and not cause travel problems.
Temperatures will be at or below freezing at Dawn on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. We’re back in the 60’s Thursday PM and low to mid 70’s Friday/Saturday. Showers return late week. The weekend storm system needs to be monitored carefully.
A look back at the Massive Tornado disaster in Lee County yesterday. March 3 will always be remembered in Alabama tornado history. The death toll of 23 is expected to rise.
