We are enjoying a nearly perfect First Weekend in Spring. This will be the ninth storm-free day in a row, which has been a rare treat in the month of March – a month that has brought so many tornadoes to our state. It appears our storm-free days will continue through Sunday. This is great news for the thousands on Spring Break. Temperatures, which have been below-normal, are starting to moderate. Montgomery had a high of 72 on Friday. We’ll be warmer today and Sunday, after some chilly mornings. Showers and thunderstorms return on Monday.
TODAY: Just about perfect. Chilly morning. But, with nearly total sunshine, temperatures will rise to the middle 70’s, with relatively light northeast wind at 5 to 10. Cool again tonight. Low 47. Sunrise at 6:47, sunset at 6:58.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Sunday will be the last text-book perfect day in this long series. High in the upper 70’s. Showers and storms are likely Monday. It will be cooler Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the 60’s and some chilly mornings. It will start to warm again by late week. Another storm system will arrive by the next weekend (March 30/31).
MONDAY STORM SYSTEM: So far, there is no clear indication that this will be a severe weather threat. There’s just not evidence at this time. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, as a front approaches. The front moves through Monday evening/Monday night. Cooler air is on tap Tuesday. Here’s the map set-up on Monday morning at 7:00AM.
BEACH FORECAST: While temperatures have been somewhat cool, the weather has been otherwise spectacular. (Yesterday’s high in Gulf Shores was 73, Destin 71) Not much change today & tomorrow. Sunshine will be abundant. Northeast wind 10 to 15. Seas 1 to 2 feet. Rip current risk is listed as low. Gulf water is chilly. The average buoy temperatures are around 65.
POLLEN FORECAST: The news continues pretty awful. The pollen count remains in the high to very high range through the next few days.
