It’s late April but it feels more like March, this morning. In the wake of the powerful storm which brought the severe weather to the South, chilly air is funneling into the state. It’s cloudy and there’s still some showers on the radar, especially in northeast Alabama.
The sun will return later today.Tomorrow, the chill will begin to fade Easter Sunday afternoon, and that will set the stage for a rather remarkable string on nice days, in the week ahead. The next storm system holds off until late week, but, so far, it does not look severe. And, that’s great news for a change.
TODAY & Easter: Brisk. Cloudy, breezy and cool in the morning. Can’t rule out a light shower. Gradually, the clouds will melt away later. Today’s high, (eventually) will be about 66, when the sun appears. West wind at 12-22 and gusty today, diminishing this evening. Clear, cold tonight for April. Low temperature by Easter Sunrise morning 44. Easter Sunrise will be at 6:09.
Easter Sunday will start off chilly, but beautiful sunshine will allow highs to warm to the upper 70’s by afternoon. Should be a really nice Easter Sunday! Enjoy!
NEXT FEW DAYS: After a beautiful Sunday, get ready for a nice string of sunny days with warmer temperatures, as highs return to the mid 80’s by Wednesday. A few showers and maybe some thunderstorms will be back by Thursday and a better chance Thursday night into Friday.
BEACH FORECAST: Not ideal today, by a long shot. Windy and quite cool. High surf. High rip current risk. Cool. High will not reach 70. A little nicer Sunday & Monday (and Tuesday, too). Warmer. Gulf water now 72.
NO SEVERE WEATHER FOR A FEW DAYS: It’s nice to get a break, for at least a few days, from severe weather episodes. It has been an extremely rough severe weather season. Alabama has had 53 tornadoes so far this year. Too much. Enjoy this nice break.
