The news about the weekend weather is very good! It will be amazingly similar to last weekend. High in the 60’s. Sunday will be warmest. Sunshine will dominate. Enjoy it! Rain will return soon.
Highs will reach the 70’s Monday through Thursday. But, unfortunately, periods of rain and maybe some thunderstorms are on the weather menu for the week ahead, starting Monday night.
TODAY AND SUNDAY: Nice day ahead. A Chilly morning. But, abundant sunshine will allow a nice warm up. High today 64. (Yesterday’s high 65, Normal 67). Not as breezy. North wind 5 to 10. Clear skies, chilly tonight. Low 37. BEAUTIFUL day Sunday. Sunshine. High in the upper 60’s. Perhaps teasing 70.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Monday should be dry and warmer. High 73. Showers and maybe a few thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday. A series of disturbances will move through this week. Risk of showers and maybe some thunderstorms in the forecast right on through the end of the week and into the weekend.
RAINFALL POTENTIAL THIS WEEK – FEW STRONG STORMS?: There are some question marks about strong storms potential in the week ahead, particularly mid and late week. The jury is out on whether we will see any severe storms. A frontal system will meander north and south. This will help to promote another week of potentially significant rainfall totals. It looks like north Alabama could see some of the heavier totals, BUT, the axis of heavier rain could change. The last thing we need is another week of heavy rain.
RIVERS ARE HIGH: Many rivers in central and south Alabama remain above flood stage. Orange dots on this map are rivers above flood stage. RED is rivers that have exceeded moderate flood levels.
Moderate flooding continues on the Tallapoosa River at the Tallapoosa Water Plant, along the Alabama River at Selma, and along the Pea river at Ariton.
The Alabama River in Montgomery will peak nearly 8 feet above flood stage today.
I’ll have another Blog update for you in the morning. Have a nice Weekend
