MONDAY UPDATE:  Big Improvements After The Storm – Cooler Air Soon

Today is the day that many folks are picking up the pieces following an Easter Sunday storm system which brought tornadoes and widespread wind damage across the Deep South.  The death toll is now up to at least 18.  There were at least 40 tornadoes, including a few violent long-tracked tornadoes.  Hardest hit state was Mississippi.  Across Alabama, there were tornadoes.  Across our area, widespread wind damage reports, and numerous power outages overnight. Lots of tress down.

I’m just waking up after a long day and night of weather coverage.  This will be a brief Blog Update, on a much calmer Monday.  The news is good today.  Cooler air is on the way.  We  have a couple of chilly nights in the week ahead.  But, I do not see any severe weather over the next few days.

Take a look at the preliminary severe weather reports on Easter Sunday, through 7AM this morning.  Well over 500 severe weather reports including over 400 wind damage reports and more than 4 dozen tornado reports.

TODAY:  Sunshine and breezy today.  High upper 70’s.  Clear skies, chilly tonight.  Low near 50.  Gusty west wind at 10-20 mph, diminishing tonight.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  We have a nice string of days ahead.  Perfect Tuesday.  Chance of showers Tuesday night as a cool front moves through.  Much cooler Wednesday and Wednesday night.  Late week warming.  Chance of showers returning by next weekend.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be getting back to normal.  I’ll have a video update online by 4:45AM.  Enjoy today’s calmer weather.  Stay safe and well.  Have a good day.
