SUNDAY UPDATE:   Showers Return to The Forecast – Cooler Days This Week

Good morning!  I have good news about showers returning to our forecast.  We need the rain.  It’s been quite a while.  The risk of showers begins today and gets better tomorrow.

Cooler air is also on the menu.  Yesterday, Montgomery got to 90 degrees for the first time this year.  We’ll be in the neighborhood today.    But, some cooler air is on the way, as a cool front sweeps across the state.  We have some comfortable days in the week ahead.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Arthur, will brush by the North Carolina coast by Monday.  More on Arthur and the latest track information below.

TODAY:  Partial sunshine.  There will be more clouds than sun.  Scattered showers have already moved into west Alabama early this morning.  Showers and a few thundershowers will increase across the area this afternoon and into tonight.  The best rain chances will be during the day Monday. Today’s high upper 80’s to near 90.  Low tonight 68.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be more numerous Monday.  Rainfall amounts will vary widely.  Some spots could see more than ½ inch.  We’ll take whatever we can get.  Showers will taper off Monday night.  Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite a bit cooler.  Widely scattered showers are possible Thursday.  It will heat up again toward the Memorial Day weekend.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND SNEAK PEEK:  Looks like a hot Memorial Day Weekend.  Highs 90+.  Mid 90’s possible on Memorial Day.  Random Pop-up showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day.  More like a summer situation.

TROPICAL STORM ARTHUR:   The first tropical storm of the season, Arthur is a minimal storm, off the southeast US coastline with 40 mph wind moving NNE at 9 mph.  It will brush by the outer band of North Carolina on Monday.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect.  The hurricane season officially begins on June 1st.

I’ll have a complete video update for you Monday morning, posted by 4:45AM
