Good morning! I wish I had better news for you. But, unfortunately, the intense July heatwave continues today, and there is no significant relief on the horizon. I do think the number of random afternoon and evening showers & storms will increase a little bit by Tuesday through the end of the week, but the day to day intense heat will not change much.
TODAY: Yesterday’s high in Montgomery was 97 with a heat index of 106. We will be very close to those numbers again today. High 97…Heat index 102 to 105. Widely scattered afternoon relief. Not many storms. Coverage about 20%. The nights continue very uncomfortable. Low 77. Stay hydrated.
Here’s a Future Radar Snapshot at 2:00 this afternoon. Very widely separated, random storms.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Not much change. I have bumped up the rain chances slightly. 40% Tuesday through Thursday. 50% Friday. High temperatures still well into the 90’s. Heat index still triple digits. Little or no signs of improvement.
THE TROPICS: There is a new “X” on the map. An “Area to Watch”. Currently this system is not too far from Puerto Rico. Notice the area of possible development upstream in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently the National Hurricane Center gives this system a 20% chance of development.
Meanwhile there are at least 4 Tropical Waves we are monitoring between Africa and the Yucatan.
