SATURDAY UPDATE: Great Saturday – Mild Weekend – Wet, Active Week Ahead

Good Morning!  The weekend weather news is pretty good.  Temperatures will be mild for January.  (Normal high 58, Low 36)   Today and Sunday we’ll be in the low 60’s.

Today should be the best day of the weekend, with a good but of sun.  Clouds roll in for tonight and Sunday.  There will be a small rain chance starting Sunday afternoon.  The better chance of showers and thunderstorms will hold off until Monday and Monday night.

TODAY:    Patchy dense fog early.  Otherwise, expect a mostly sunny day.  High in the lower 60’s.  (Wind NE 6 to 12 mph)   Increasing clouds tonight.  Not as cold.  Low 45.

SUNDAY:  Mostly cloudy and mild.  Widely scattered showers possible. High in the lower 60’s.
The Map shows a northward moving warm front on Sunday.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Showers and maybe some thunderstorms become likely by Monday afternoon and Monday night.  Warm day…high in the mid 70’s.  (more below)   Another storm system brings in another round of showers by Wednesday.

Mild for the next 5 days. (above normal)   Then, back to below normal temperatures late next week, Thursday & Friday.  Milder next weekend.

MONDAY STORM SYSTEM:  The main event with this storm system rolls through the state Monday night.  There probably will be some thunderstorms, but the parameters for any possible severe weather are lacking. The best upper level dynamics will be far northwest of Alabama.

Right now, the Storm Prediction Center has not introduced any severe weather threat.  We’ll continue to watch for changes.

ACTIVE WET PATTERN AHEAD:  The Monday and Wednesday storm systems could produce locally heavy rainfall amounts in the week ahead.  Perhaps 2”+ in spots.

I’ll have another Blog update early tomorrow morning.  Enjoy what should be a great Saturday.

Rain Will Depart – Nice Saturday – Brief Break Between Storm Systems

Happy Friday!  After a night of steady rain, we’re wet morning.  But, rain will exit the area by about lunchtime.  Looks like Saturday will be the best day of the weekend weatherwise.  We’re already keeping close tabs on the next, more robust storm system, which could bring showers as early as Sunday.  It looks like the main event will be Monday evening and Monday night.  Will there be a severe weather threat with this system?

Wet this morning. Rain exits by about lunchtime. Colder tonight.

Nice day Saturday, but only a brief break between storm systems. Scattered showers return Sunday. Mild weekend.

“The Main Event” for this next storm system will be Monday evening and Monday night. Lingering threat of showers Tuesday & Wednesday.

Rain Returns – Two Storm Systems Next 5 Days – THURSDAY Video

Good Morning!   Don’t forget the rain gear.  It will be wet at times today, tonight and tomorrow.  We should get a brief break Saturday.  Yet another storm system will begin to effect the area Sunday, and especially Sunday night and Monday.  On this video, I’ll update the weekend forecast and we’ll look ahead to later in the month.

Showers likely today and tonight. Mild.

Occasional rain Friday, ending Friday night. The front moves south to the coast by Saturday morning.

After the rain ends Friday night, Saturday looks dry…. Scattered showers Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms are more likely Sunday night and Monday.

Good Morning!   A weak front moved through overnight.  Today will be a quiet, dry & mild, but get ready for changes.  Rain is returning to our forecast, Thursday & Friday. And, a second, more robust storm system could arrive by Sunday evening into Monday.   I have an update on the weekend weather details, and a look ahead.  Is there any more arctic air in our future in the next couple of weeks?

Enjoy a quiet day today. Thursday and Friday will be wet.

Some spots in central and south Alabama could see 1″+ Rainfall totals over the next 2-3 days.

Good news. No arctic air next 10 days.

Warmer Days, Milder Nights – Showers Will Return

Good Morning!  Our warming trend continues today.  A weak front, drifting through the state this evening, could touch off an isolated shower to some towns.  But, the main rain threat this week holds off until Thursday and Friday.  How much rain?  And, what about the weekend.  We’ll look ahead.  Next week could begin stormy.

A dry mild day today for most of us. Small rain chance overnight tonight.

As the weak front drifts south overnight, there could be a couple of isolated showers in central Alabama. The chance is small.

Rain likely Thursday and Friday. No severe weather with this system.

Warmer days, milder nights. Rain likely Thursday & Friday. Dry Saturday. Could be some more showers late Sunday.

Parts of west central Alabama could see up to 2″. Not much rain farther south near the coast.

Interesting storm system Monday evening, next week, January 25th. Could it bring strong/severe storms? Too early to day.
