Good Morning! Today will be a typical summer day with random storms. But, Friday, showers & storms will be widespread as a frontal system moves south through the state. The 4th of July holiday weekend forecast is now looking better for central Alabama on Saturday and Sunday, as the front pushes south of the area. But, if you live in extreme south Alabama, or if you are heading to the coast, showers & storms will be likely all weekend. Meanwhile, we have potential tropical concerns ahead for somewhere on the US coastline next week. Elsa is a fast-moving tropical system which could be bound for the Gulf of Mexico or the Southeast US coast. I will show you various model tracks, which vary quite a bit.
Today will be a routine Summer Day with random storms.
Expect widespread showers and storms tomorrow as a front moves southward across the state.
The forecast for Saturday and the 4th of July, just got a lot better if you live in Central Alabama. The front will move south of us. The rain chance will remain high in south Alabama and on the coast.
I took the rain chance much lower for Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances increase Monday and Tuesday as the front moves northward again.
Moderate Rip Current Risk at the Beach. High Rip current risk from Panama city eastward. Unfortunately, the rain chances will remain high all weekend as the front stalls near the coast.
Breaking news: as of 4AM ….ELSA is born in the Tropical Atlantic. Could it be a problem for the Gulf of Mexico, or Florida, or the southeast coast? Stay tuned. It’s a fast mover.
