Not Quite “Fred” Yet, But Soon

Not quite FRED,  YET.   Potential Tropical Cyclone Six still does not have a closed circulation. Even though it has technically reached tropical storm status, it can’t be classified as Tropical Storm Fred yet.  Tropical Storm warnings continue for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  The system should reach tropical storm status tonight.  Then, it’s likely to weaken with it’s interaction with Hispaniola beginning in about 18 hours.  Later, it should become a tropical storm again as it approaches the SE Bahamas and Florida Keys.  It should be in the warm waters of the eastern Gulf this weakened.   The forecast cone now includes SE Alabama.
