10:00am NHC Update:
Tropical Storm Fred is just south of the Dominican Republic coast. Winds have increased to 45 mph, moving WNW at 16. The high mountains of Hispaniola will weaken the storm, but it will likely regain strength and eventually make a right turn, affecting Florida by the weekend and into the eastern Gulf and then aim for the northern Gulf cost by late Sunday night or first thing Monday AM. Perhaps as a 65 mph Tropical Storm. Notice the cone of uncertainty includes all of Florida, the eastern Gulf and the southern and central portion of Alabama.

Tropical Storm Fred is approaching the Dominican Republic with 40 mph winds, moving WNW at 16. The high mountains of that nation will weaken the storm, but it will likely regain strength and eventually make a right turn, affecting Florida by the weekend and into the eastern Gulf and ten aim for the northern Gulf cost by late Sunday night/Monday AM.
Besides Fred, farther out in the Tropical Atlantic is Invest 95-L. Could this system get the name Grace? And, will this system, some day, be destined for the Gulf of Mexico?
