Intense Weekend Heat – Dangerous Heat Index – Scattered Strong Storms – FRIDAY Video

Good Morning!  Yesterday’s high in Montgomery was 95, with a Heat Index of 104.  Then, the rains came: .81”.  Many towns got lucky with big downpours.   But, not every town.  It was feast or famine.  Today will be much like yesterday.  Intense heat, dangerous heat indices, with random scattered storms.  Some storms will be strong in this kind of heat.  And, guess what?  It will be “rinse and repeat” each of the next 5 days at least.  Especially by Sunday and Monday, we may be close to the criteria for a heat advisory.  Meanwhile, there are four tropical features on the map, we’re tracking.  One could have implications for the United Sates.

Heat and Humidity will be the big story again today with dangerous triple dig heat indices. But, like yesterday, radar will come alive. There will be a generous supply of afternoon and evening storms.

That strong upper ridge on top of us is responsible for the intense heat. It’s also a steering mechanism for Hurricane Grace….steering Grace into Mexico. Meanwhile, look in the Atlantic. Looks like Henri has found a little weakness, which is an alley way to move north toward New England.

Not much day to day change in our weather for the next several days. Intense heat. Highs in the mid 90’s. Triple digit heat index. Lows at night mid 70’s. Daily random scattered storms. A few storms could be quite strong in this kind of heat.

At the Beach, expect triple digit heat indices every day. Routine forecast. Scattered storms. Highs in the upper 80’s to near 90. Lows at night near 80. Gulf water temperature in the mid 80’s. Because of Hurricane Grace in the southwest Gulf, high surf will create a dangerous high Rip Current Risk from Destin through Panama City to Cape San Blas. Moderate Risk on the Alabama coast.

There are lots of players in the tropics, including a new Area to Watch in the Tropical Atlantic.

Tropical Storm Grace will regain Hurricane strength again today as it heads for a second Mexican landfall tonight.

Very interesting! Henri will become a hurricane by tomorrow and threaten the Northeast US coast by late in the weekend. Hurricane Watch from Long Island to Mass. including Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
