Good Morning! We’ve had very good luck with our Labor Day Holiday Weekend weather so far and our luck holds today. It will be hot today. But, humidity, once again will not be awful.
A southward moving front will bring showers and storms back to our forecast by Labor Day Monday afternoon.
Another front will approach by mid-week. Rain chances will spike by Wednesday. Any Gulf Tropical concerns are now dramatically lower. I’ll Explain below.
A late week front will deliver some more “nice air”…similar to what we had late last week, with similar timing.
TODAY: Much like yesterday, sunshine will be dominate. Dry. High 91. (Dewpoints in the low to mid 60’s like yesterday) Not awful humidity. Fairly tolerable. Clear tonight. Low 72.
LABOR DAY: The morning should be mostly sunny and dry. A southward moving frontal system will bring a line of storms into central Alabama sometime in the afternoon, and into south Alabama during the evening. No severe weather is expected. High 91. Low Monday night 71.
Here’s a Monday 2 PM Future Radar snapshot from one of the Hi-Res models. Broken line of thunderstorms ahead of the frontal system.
NEXT FEW DAYS: The Labor Day front will stall somewhere in south Alabama Tuesday and Friday, as we await a stronger front late week. Rain chances will spike Wednesday. Drier air overspreads the area on Thursday and Friday. NICE late week weather, like last week’s “nice-break”. NEXT Weekend is shaping up to be quiet and very similar to this weekend.
TROPICAL CONCERNS: Yesterday, if you read the Blog, there were question marks about the future of Invest 91-L. Would it become a Tropical Storm…and where would it go? This morning, those tropical concerns are greatly diminished. 1) Conditions in the Gulf will become “marginally conducive” for future development. But, 2) That stronger late week cool front will save us from dealing with a Depression or tropical storm, or whatever 91-L becomes. For now, this is not a concern anymore.
Elsewhere, Major Category 3 Hurricane Larry in the Atlantic with 120 mph winds will bypass Bermuda. Now, we can truly call it a Fish Storm. The rest of the tropics are quiet for now. Long range models advertise some Gulf mischief mid-month.
.
I’ll have another Blog update in the morning. Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day Weekend.
