Good Morning! This unusually cool late October Chill continues. It feels more like late November than late October. Today, again, the breeze will be a factor. Highs will be about 14 degrees too cold for this early in the season. “Trick or Treaters” will need something warm to wear this evening and tomorrow evening.
Things will get better on Sunday and through the middle of next week. Sunshine returns. Gradually, highs will return to the 70’s. The front, late next week, could bring the first lows in the 30’s, perhaps, by next weekend.
THE SET-UP: A Giant Upper Low in the Tennessee valley dominates our forecast. Very cold air aloft mixes down to the surface. Clouds are dominate. At the surface, like spokes on a wheel, disturbances rotate into the state, one after another, after another. The upper low will migrate to the northeast tomorrow, making Halloween a better weather day.
TODAY: Like yesterday, I think the clouds will be dominate most of the day. There will some “sunbreaks”. Again today, the breeze will be a factor. West wind at 6 to 16 gusting over 20. We stayed in the 50’s yesterday afternoon. Today’s high 62-64°. (Normal high 76). Tonight…partly to mostly cloudy. Chilly. Low 49. MANY towns are having “trick or treat” this evening. Dress for a chilly evening.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Chilly “jacket weather” nights and mornings. Lows in the 40’s through Wednesday. Sunny, nice afternoons. Not as cool. Low 70’s. The next frontal system brings showers and storms back to the state Thursday.
NEXT COLD FRONT: The next Cold Front will bring showers and perhaps some thunderstorms to the state next Thursday and Thursday night. Behind that front, we could see lows at night in the 30’s, perhaps, for the first time this year.
Another Cold Front brings showers and storms to the state around Sunday, November 7th.
TROPICS: Fortunately, there’s nothing in the tropics we care about. UNLIKE this week last year. We had a TOUGH last week of October.
