Good Morning! It’s a very cold Saturday morning, again this week. Early this morning, wind chills are in the lower 20’s. Cold air, behind the big winter storm, continues to funnel into the state.
Yesterday, temperatures hovered in the upper 30’s and low 40’s. Today, sunshine will help the mercury reach the upper 40’s. This, of course is way below the normal high of 62. (normal Low 38) We won’t be anywhere near normal, temperature-wise, until late next week.
We’ll be below freezing at Dawn, this morning, and another freeze is expected tonight. The best news: It looks like a very quiet pattern for the next several days. After the mega-storms of the last few weeks, it appears we will be storm-free for several days. At least through next week, if not longer.
TODAY: A cold, sub-freezing start. Wind chill in the lower 20’s. Sunshine, breezy & cold. High in the upper 40’s. North wind at 10 to 18 mph. Clear and cold tonight. Low in the upper 20’s.
SUNDAY: After a sub-freezing start, we should see a nice turn-around by afternoon. Sunshine. High 56. (still below normal, but a little better). Increasing clouds Sunday night. Low in the mid 30’s.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Mostly cloudy & cool Monday. Cool Tuesday. Near 60 Wednesday. Low 60’s by late week. (Near normal) Should be dry all week.
NEXT 10 DAYS: Fortunately, after this weekend, the 10 day model blend shows no more arctic intrusions for now. Temperatures will be a little more reasonable starting late this week through the following weekend.
TORNADO SURVEYS: The National Weather Service conducted a couple of tornado surveys yesterday, following Thursday’s storm. So far, two strong EF-2’s have been surveyed in west Alabama. Click here for the details. Other surveys in Elmore county are also expected. Perhaps today.

TODAY IS…
I appreciate all my many friends, across this great Nation who do this job. Glad we many of us get together at conferences in various cities once a year! It’s the ONLY job I ever wanted since I was a little boy, growing up in Ohio. I’m a lucky guy. It’s challenging at times.
.
I’ll have another Blog update in the morning. Stay warm! Have a nice weekend!
