FRIDAY Update:  Spring-like For Now – Quick Arctic Sample By Sunday

(Blog instead of a video this morning.  Needed some extra time this morning to take care of some stuff)

Good Morning!  Get ready for another very Spring-like February day.  Everyday this week gets a little warmer.  Today we are headed for 70 or above with abundant sunshine.  What a long string of nice days!  The warmth will last through Saturday afternoon.  Enjoy this.  There’s a big change on the way.

Another Cold front will sweep across the state Saturday night.  There’s a slight chance of a few showers ahead of and behind the front.  The temperature will tumble to the low to mid 30’s by Dawn.  Super-bowl Sunday will be sunny, but breezy and cold.  We’ll fall to the 20’s Sunday night.

Fortunately, the cold will not last long.  We should warm back to the 60’s by Tuesday, and perhaps near 70 Wednesday.  Get ready for what looks like a significant storm system by Thursday afternoon & Thursday night.

TODAY:  The morning chill will fade quickly.  Abundant sunshine.  Spring-like warmth.  High in the lower 70’s.  Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.  Mainly clear, chilly tonight, but not as cold.  Low 42.

Yesterday’s high was 69. Normal high is 64. Perhaps lower 70’s today.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Continued very mild Saturday.  Small risk of shower Saturday night with the cold front.  Much colder.  Sunday will be windy and sharply colder.  The coldest morning will be Monday.  Look for a rather remarkable temperature rebound after that.  60’s by Tuesday.  Near 70 by Wednesday.

The Polar Jetstream takes a dip into the Gulf states Sunday.  That will allow a quick shot of arctic air to engulf Alabama.

The Model Blend over the next 10 days suggests we’ll make it back to the 60’s by Tuesday, and 70’s by Wednesday & Thursday.  Big storm system Thursday, then much cooler again.

NEXT STORM SYSTEM:  It still likes a major storm system will effect the area by Thursday afternoon / Thursday Night.  It’s too early to say if this system will produce Severe Weather.  But ‘tis the season for that.  We’ll know more as we get closer.

Thanks for reading the Blog this morning.  Everything else is normal this morning, including Live on NewsTalk 93.1 and Live of CBS 8 and ABC 32.

I will have another complete blog update in the morning, and Sunday morning.   Have a great weekend!
