Good Morning! Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.
TODAY: Heat Advisory continues in effect. Today’s High near 98. Heat as high as 110. Scattered to numerous random showers & thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon & evening. Some storms could reach severe limits with damaging wind gusts the main threat. Locally heavy downpours. Excessive lightning. Storm threat continues tonight. Low tonight 77.
Expect storms anytime after about 10 AM.
Future Radar suggests that some of the active hours will be well into the evening hours tonight. Storms will put on quite a show.
SPC says some storms could be severe. Level 2 Severe Risk for much of central Alabama. Damaging wind gusts are the main threat. The greatest Severe Weather Risk window would be from about 2PM to Midnight.
The dangerous heatwave gripping the American Heartland continues. Heat Advisory continues for a multi-state area. Some parts of West Alabama are under a rare Excessive Heat Warning.

CLIMATE DATA: Yesterday’s high was 98, with a heat index of 106. Morning low was 77 – which was nearly a record high minimum. Normal high 94, low 72. Today’s record high 102 from 1952. Sunrise 5:53, Sunset 7:50.
NEXT FEW DAYS: . The higher than normal rain chance continues Friday. Not quite as hot Friday. Over the weekend, the number of storms will thin out quite a bit. High in the mid 90’s. Low at night mid 70’s.
Upper level high pressure ridge builds eastward this weekend. Fewer storms.
BEACH FORECAST: Rain chances will be highest on Friday. But the weekend looks routine. Scattered hit or miss storms. Moderate Rip Current risk. Gulf water temperature 86.
TROPICAL OUTLOOK : The tropics continue quiet for now. The Euro model hints that we should monitor the Tropical Atlantic over the next 10 days.
