FRIDAY Update:  Elevated Rain Chance Again Today – More Scattered Storms This Weekend

Good Morning!  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

CLIMATE DATA:  Montgomery only had a high of 79 yesterday, after a morning low of 73.  Airport rainfall: 2.82 (Daily Record for 8/25)   I had 3” in East Montgomery.  Northeast Montgomery (Arrowhead) had 4.08”.  The Montgomery Airport has now had 9.16” of rain in the month of August.  It is one of the wettest month’s of August in many years in central Alabama.

TODAY:  Dense fog advisory until 9AM.  Our very wet pattern continues today.   Scattered to numerous showers & storms, just about anytime, but especially in the afternoon & evening. Locally heavy downpours. High in the mid 80’s.     Low tonight 72.

Most of us are in a Marginal Risk for Excessive rainfall today.  The BEST chance for excessive rainfall today is closer to the coast

Dense fog advisory until 9AM.  Visibility down to 1/4 mile or less in spots.

NEXT FEW DAYS:      Storms perhaps slightly less numerous by Saturday & Sunday.  More scattered storms will continue Sunday through Tuesday.   Little day to day change.  Highs mainly in the Upper 80’s Saturday & Sunday.  Near 90 Monday through Wednesday.  Lows at night in the low 70’s.

.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:   There are two Areas to Watch in the tropics.   NHC has a 20% chance the Tropical Atlantic system will develop into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 5 days.  Elsewhere,  there is another Area to Watch in the Caribbean.  It also currently has a 20% chance of development.

The rest of the Atlantic Basin is still quiet, for now…however..   The EURO model hints that there could be some tropical mischief in the NW Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in the next 10 days.

The GFS also hints at some potential Gulf Tropical mischief about a week from now. But, we’re vary cautious about showing a GFS tropical system that many days out.

BEACH OUTLOOK:    The beach forecast, unfortunately is still not good.  Showers and storms will be widespread this weekend. Locally Heavy rainfall

Wet times near the Gulf Coast next several days.
